Joe + Andy's side Project

Fall Out Boy Members Announce Metal Side Project

Posted: Wednesday, 25 November 2009

Members of Fall Out Boy, Every Time I Die and Anthrax have joined forces to create a metal supergroup called The Damned Things.

FOB’s Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley have teamed up with ETID’s Keith Buckley and Anthrax’s Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano in what could be one of rock’s most unusual comings together in recent history!

The band came together through mutual friend David Karon, who will now also play bass in the band. And despite Scott Ian’s initial reservations about meeting with Trohman, the pair hit it off immediately and found themselves jamming. Described by Scott as “Kyuss meeting Thin Lizzy”, it’s uncertain how long the project will take to come into fruition with day job commitments, but all parties are excited about the songs created.

“We just started working on songs together and I really dug it,” Scott exclusively revealed to Rock Sound. “It just felt really good. From there we decided that obviously both of us are pretty busy in our day jobs but let’s see what we can do with this. Even if it takes us five years to make a record, why not?

“It’s super fun and it’s something that we do totally take seriously because we love the music we’ve created. People think of Fall Out Boy and they think of Pete Wentz and Patrick. These two guys, man, they’re fucking hardcore dudes. Joe writes some amazing riffs. We have this song called ‘A Great Reckoning’ that I swear to God, this song could be on any Thin Lizzy record. He fucking blew my mind with this song and I just can’t wait for people to hear it.”

Commenting on the project, Joe told Rock Sound: “Scott’s right hand is the reason I got into playing punk rock, hardcore and metal! Having Keith as part of the mix is insane, we all know he writes incredible lyrics but he is also a really good singer. That is showcased in Every Time I Die, but we want him to go more into singing than screaming on this project.”

Having already demoed and written over 15 songs, Rock Sound understands recording is scheduled to begin before Christmas. Watch this space.

New Fall Out Boy song lyrics!

the new track that will be an extra, as well as Alpha Dog, on the Greatest Hits album whcih is out 16th November.

“From Now On We Are Enemies”

‘I just want to be better than your head’s only medicine’

A downward spiral just a pirouette

Getting worse til there’s nothing left

What good comes of something when I’m just the ghost of nothing?

‘I’m just the man on the balcony singing’:

“Nobody will ever remember me,”

Rejoice, rejoice and fall to your knees

(for a)

Lunatic of a god or a god of a lunatic?

Oh, their faces are dancing

They’re dancing til

Til they can’t stand it

A composer but never composed

Singing the symphonies of the overdosed

A composer but never composed

‘Singing’:

“I only want what I can’t have”

‘Heralded as a king before I had a birthday

With double digits

Fit the crown to my head but I was only a kid’

‘I’m just the man on the balcony singing’:

“Nobody will ever remember me,”

Rejoice, rejoice and fall to your knees

(for a)

Lunatic of a god or a god of a lunatic?

Oh, their faces are dancing

They’re dancing til

Til they can’t stand it

A composer but never composed

Singing the symphonies of the overdosed

A composer but never composed

‘Singing’:

“I only want what I can’t have”

‘I just want to be better than your head’s only medicine’

‘I’m just the man on the balcony singing’:

“Nobody will ever remember me,”

Rejoice, rejoice and fall to your knees

(for a)

Lunatic of a god or a god of a lunatic?

Oh, their faces are dancing

They’re dancing til

Til they can’t stand it

A composer but never composed

Singing the symphonies of the overdosed

A composer but never composed

‘Singing’

“I only want what I can’t have”

Elliot is leaving Hey Monday!

EJ is leaving Hey Monday!!

This is what he posted on iamelliotjames.com earlier

A DUSTLAND FAIRYTALE

I moved to Florida from England right after my 13th birthday. I had always been told America was the land of opportunity. My life so far has been a living testament of just that. I’ve dared to be a day dreamer and act on those dreams for as long as i can remember. Which has now brought me to this next chapter. So here we are. First off i have to say how completely flattered i am by all of you who have shown your love and good feelings towards my decision to leave Hey Monday. For those of you that are devastated i will do my best to reach out to you as my intention in leaving was never to upset anyone. What i can gather from what a lot of you are saying on all the other sites is that you’d like to know why exactly it is that i left. Like i said in my statement with the bands, it is never easy for anyone to walk away from any opportunity to do what they love, especially if that opportunity involves living your passion every day. For me as much as i loved being apart of such a moving band i had gotten to a point where my interests weren’t the same as the other members of the bands. Hey Monday has dreams, and i have dreams of my own, as i’m sure every single of one of you do, and i encourage everyone to fight for those and never settle for anything less than what you think you deserve. Always be true to yourself and follow your heart, and never get in the way of anyone trying to follow theres. As cliche as it might sound, you’ve got to love you for you, and be honest with yourself. I believe in being part of a team, because i think theres power in numbers. I would never want to let any team i was apart of down so despite a change in feelings for myself i was staying in Hey Monday in the hopes that i wouldn’t let my team down. With that being said though, for a team to work every member has got to strive for the same direction and at this current time in my life I’m choosing a new direction. I know for many this is not ideal. As much as i am the guy on stage, I’m also the fan on the other side of the barricade. I have idols, I admire others entertainers and artists, I see people i love walk out of my favorite bands too for one reason or another, i know how much it can hurt when you have an attachment to something like that.

To the ones that want to know my next move, you should know me better by now to know i never give myself away that easy. There’s a silver lining to every storm ball, I’ve counted my blessings, and a whole new set of opportunities have already begun to present themselves. Expect to see my in the studio, on the road again, and doing what i do best, and what i love best, performing, in no time at all. The future is looking brighter from where I’m standing, don’t let the sun blind you on the horizon line. Stick this out with me and I’ll make it worth your while as always, still got a few tricks up my sleeve.

Please know that my time in Hey Monday has been the best times of my life to date. I would never trade anything for it. I feel like i’m in debt to every person thats given me the chance to do what i love doing every day. So if thank you’s are still good for something then i owe a million to Jay Harren, Rohan, Bret, Milo, Scott, Rob, Gabby, Bob, JD, Sam, Dave, Jason, Becky, Brent, Andrew Keller, Jamie Humphries, Jeff Perry, Erika, Jen Mallory, Duncan Johnson, Jen Citron, JJ Cassiere, Frosty, Pete, Brady, Dave Watson, Beth, Cat, Matt Galle, Jake Ottmann, Doneen, Slay J, Joe Clay, Zach, Jenna, Perry, Tim, Luga, Noah S, Nano, Danny K, Nick Scimeca, Amanda, Ryan Miller, Jeremy Michaels, Chris Martin, David, Alex, JM, Oscar, Josh W, Tyler, AJ, Joey BDH, Marky GK, Mike Cipcari, Bryan, Michael Berlin, Kip Beelman, Steve Scal, Patrick IQ, Andrew and Eric, Alex Collins, Leigh, Spencer, Nano, Cal Knapp, Behringer, Delicious, Dan Rosenburg,Taya, Machi, Hiro, Rei, Chet Cannon, Both Chris V’s, CP, Brendan Klein, Kyle K, Dylan, Bil Doc, T Fair, Nick Santino, Eric Holv, Loren, Alex DeLeon, Cash, Johnson, Marshall, Sonny, Ian, Dan, David, Andy, Gavin, Porter, William Beck, Butcher, Sisky, Guy, Mike, Travis, Hunter, Danny, Drew, Scoot, Chad, Max, Rian, Alex, Jack, Zach, Flyzick, Greco, Rooster, Patrick, Pete, Joe, Andy, Henry, Justin, Dre, AJ, Marcus, Diaz, Kadavar, Danny Hutto, Gabe, Vicky, Ryland, Nate, Suarez, BND, Ant, Trace, Mason, Blake, Martin, Beef, Bryan, Paul, Johnny, Mayday, Bigger Lights, Out Of Sight, Stereo, Every Ave, Friday Night Boys, Versa, ADTR, Hush Sound, There For Tomorrow, Cartel, and every band out there thats been good to me. Thank for keeping it real. Every fan, every person that bought a ticket, every person that loved it, every person that hated it, all the people on AP, every person i’ve ever talked to after a show, every person that sold me cereal at a rest stop, every person thats bought my art, every person that made fun of me for looking good in tight pants, every person that watched me play, every person that brought my gifts birthday or not, people all over america, in canada, england, scotland, wales, japan, singapore, manila, australia, new zealand, that came to a show, people everywhere in the world that talked to me, added me, or listened to me, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Finally, thank you to Cass, Jers, Pimpshaw, and Mike, you don’t an explanation to know how much i feel for you guys. Do great thing, i know you will. LTD

It’s been a pleasure,

-EL

im REALLY upset about him leaving but if it what he wants to do then i can live with it. better to do something you want to do than something you dont.

i really didnt see this coming...still im glad that i got to see them before this (only last week).

wishing Elliot the best :

My 3rd Hey Monday Concert!

not as great as last time (i didnt get to give Elliot his b-day present! NOOOO!) but it was AMAZING otherwise!!!!!!!

so i got to the show at arounnd 6, which means no chance of seeing the bands before. so im in the queue talking to my friend (who kinda annoys me most of the time) hannah, and the queues were mixed up because the BabyCakes party was on in the academy 2 at the same time (lots of people from my school went).

then i see Jersey by the buses so i run over and give him his Pacman ghost (they had one each and gave him a hug and talked for abit.

later on we go in. i hate that spiral stairchase up to the academy 3!!! 4 for the front but its a great spot (aka good view of the drums!).

Stereo Skyline come on and they were great! alex and jersey came on for abit too! and the best part was when Mike was saying stuff in their ear pieces! it was so funny!

Then Out Of Sight! they are a really great band and they supported Hey Monday last time. then the banana fight starts! Cassadee starts throwing bananas at them! the then they said that Cassadee hit them with a lime once!

Every avenue came on and they were so drunk!

then HEY MONDAY!

one word: wow! ive got some videos that i'll post 2moz :D

they played the normal ones plus Should Of tried harder, and cassadee played guitar on that one! Jersey, alex and mike were great, and elliot was super cute (as always). Jersey threw me one of his guitar picks but like an idiot i dropped it! and then the annoying child infront of me got it but after the constert i got a yellow one (not the hey monday one but still!).

then THE ENCORE! if you follow them on twitter you will already know how mental it was!

we were all shouting for more so they ALL came on! and then the played Dammit by blink-182 as a new 'super-band!'. then Elliot just jumped into the middle of the crowd and Alex followed and lost his shoes (hehehe!) which some gave him back at the end. so everyone was crowd surfing! and then after would they spent like 3 minutes bowing as we all clapped. it was AWESOME!!!

(this pic is from the girl in front of me. i found it on facebook)

and then i went out after till midnight! i met stereo Skyline and i got some pics with them but they have red eye and i look horrid so they need editing! plus they signed my ticket then we were talking to Out Of Sight.

if id of seen Elliot (and given him his present plus Crunchie) it would of been the best concert ever!!

T-Shirt Photo: i put Set Off lyrics in it in the end. i was going to do Arizona but i thought it had more of a...truth to it. 'i dont care what they say cause they dont know who we are'

want PETE WENTZ'S Phone Number?? read this!

clandestine just posted this:

American Playwright Wilson Mizner once said, “The best way to keep you friends is not to give them away.” Which is a pretty awesome quote, considering it says nothing about giving away their phone numbers.

About 2 weeks ago, Pete Wentz asked us good folks at Clandestine Industries to create a shirt exposing Cobra Starship singer Gabe Saporta’s phone number and email address, in hopes that he could reveal both live at the MTV VMAs. And as you may have seen during the broadcast, Pete wore the shirt, but because of some issues with legal, and in a turn of events that could only be deemed “lucky” for Gabe’s phone bill, was unable to show the number fully. But Pete was focused on pranking his good friend and figured this was just a bump in the road.

So, he had us print up a limited amount of the shirt to sell the next day, hoping that what MTV stopped, could be started again by fans purchasing the shirt at ClandestineIndustries.com. We sold a good amount and word got back to Gabe OBVIOUSLY. And that’s when last night, Gabe Saporta tweeted me and asked me to call him.

We now have stopped selling the shirt immediately. I was able to convince Gabe to allow those who have bought the piece already, to still be in line to get it. No worries if you bought one. You’ll have a genuine collector’s item (and a little gift). A piece of contraband even. With one small amazing change. As you can see, we’ve unblurred the number on the shirt. This number is now the phone number printed on the actual shirt and it was printed on the shirt by request of Gabe Saporta.

Ever wanted to get back at your boss? Or be able to stop a prank before it happens and make it even WORSE? Well, we did. We turned the tables and we turned them fast. Go ahead and call the number. It’s real. The quicker the better, cause he has not idea what we did, so he’ll be answering the phone until he figures it out. We pulled a fast one over on the dude who thinks he can prank anyone and everyone. We’re getting the last laugh.

EVERYONE CALL IT!! and quick before he finds out!!!!!!!!!!

Ashlee's kicked Pete out!

Ashlee Simpson Kicks Hubby Pete Wentz Out Of The House!

Posted on September 5, 2009

power of leather 250609

It’s being reported that Ashlee Simpson believes her husband Pete Wentz is cheating on her and has thrown him out! Read more on this story below.

There have been rumors for a while now about trouble in the Simpson/Wentz marriage. Ashlee put her life on hold for a while to care for their son Bronx. But Pete has never slowed down, and continues to party.

Star Magazine is reporting that Ashlee has discovered proof that Pete is cheating on her and is consulting with divorce lawyers.

Star magazine reports:

It was Ashlee’s worst nightmare come true. Ashlee was rummaging around in a guest bedroom in her $4.7 million Beverly Hills home on Aug. 19, she discovered what she believed to be evidence of husband Pete Wentz cheating on her, a friend tells Star. Ashlee was so distraught that she dropped off their 9-month-old son, Bronx, at her parents’ house and checked into a hotel, even though Pete was performing with Fall Out Boy in St. Louis that night. “I can’t stand being at that house anymore,” Ashlee, 24. told her pal. “I need to clear my head. I have a lot on my plate, and my marriage is stressing me out.”

But when she called Pete to talk things out, he didn’t answer, which only enraged her. After repeatedly calling him (and getting his voicemail), Ashlee finally reached her husband – and snapped. An insider says she screamed, “Don’t even bother coming home! I don’t want to look at you!”

She must have struck a nerve, because that same night, Pete posted on Twitter, “Money doesn’t grow on trees. Neither does happiness,” before referring to himself as an “a–hole.” Four days later, he took a break in the band’s tour and traveled hoe to L.A. Pete Twittered about his excitement to see his son – but made no mention of his wife: “Can’t wait to see the little homie.”

As Star reported, Ashlee has long suspected her husband of getting too close to the young female musical acts he works with, Hey Monday and Millionaires and she can’t take the flirting anymore! “Ashlee doesn’t trust Pete at all,” says an insider. “They fight all the tie and sometimes don’t speak for days. Things have gotten bad. Pete doesn’t want to deal with Ashlee and her drama.”

Pete’s flirting sparked the latest public brawl between him and Ash at the one-year anniversary of his Chicago bar, Angels & Kings, on Aug. 15. Although he hadn’t seen his wife in almost a month and she’d come to town just for the day to support him, Pete, 30, quickly left Ash in the VIP area to hit the DJ booth and party with friends. After an hour and a half, she’d had enough and stormed over to her inebriated husband, says an eyewitness. “Ashlee was fumin. She yelled at Pete, ‘Enough! Let’s go!’”

Wow, this doesn’t sound too good for Pete and Ashlee. Do you guys think their marriage can take the strain or do you expect them to divorce?

(via stupidcelebrities.net)

I hope this isnt true!! even if it is its so not Cassadee! they are such a cute couple! if its true Pete is an idiot!

but this does explain why Pete has just been going out with Bronx without Ashlee.... but werent they doing that 'guess who' thing at clandestine together 2 days ago?

this is why i dont think its true

patrick stump.. arrested!

Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump was arrested late Tuesday night in Los Angeles after a traffic stop revealed an outstanding warrant for driving without a valid license. The warrant was issued after Stump failed to appear before a Beverly Hills judge in June 2007; the singer was released Wednesday morning on $15,000 bail.

“All I really have to say is ignorance of the law isn’t innocence,” Stump said in a post-arrest interview with MTV News. “I didn’t want to give up my Illinois driver’s license and was unaware that was a crime. It is, by the way, in the state of California. Lesson learned. I technically broke a law, so technically I deserve whatever I get. But man, is my mom gonna be pissed.

out of all the members of FOB, it was patrick! haha! :D

i cant help but laugh!

fantasy moment: pete coming to pay his bail and being like 'let go of my patrick!!'. and the cop being like 'err. my daughter is a fan. can you sign the mug-shot?'.

hehe

Pete Wentz interview with SupJustin

8/7/09

How's the tour with Blink-182 so far?
It's been awesome. The first couple of days we didn't really know what to do because we haven't gone on a non-headlining tour in like 6 years. It's been a lot of fun though. We haven't been practicing it so it sounds a little choppy, but we recently started playing a cover of "Don't Stop Believing." We literally never rehearsed it ever.

Why are you only in the "What a Catch" music video for like two seconds?
There are two reasons. First and foremost, when I was writing the lyrics for the song, it was written from Patrick's perspective... So it felt right for him to be the star of the video. Secondly, I feel like one of the things that really hinders Fall Out Boy is me. Sometimes the name Pete Wentz puts a black cloud over things, so I wanted to minimize my role in it. I know this only increases people believing this is our swan song, but to be honest, this is how the video was going to be shot no matter what. If it's the last music video we ever do, we'll be happy with how it turned out. I'm happy with the way it turned minus my amazing CGI scene. Someone got trigger happy and put up the wrong version of the video. A new version should be online shortly.

What is a "A Weekend at Pete Rose's?"
I don't want to get too deep in to it because I want it to be somewhat of a surprise. It's a video that gives the internet what they want in a way. People always don't get what they want from us and this is one time when we deliver exactly that. Also, a lot of times we're known as a serious band... Just look at our video for "What a Catch." This will add levity to our band and let people know we do have a sense of humor. Look for some teasers for it in the next couple of weeks.

A lot of people want a Take This To Your Grave "version two." Do you feel any pressure towards that?
Not really. I think it becomes a problem for all bands that have been around for a while. There are people who want you to change your sound, stay the same, or be in between. We shoot for the people in between. We try to keep elements from Take This To Your Grave and From Under The Cork Tree that we like and at the same time try to expand our sound. We're 7 years older than when we wrote the album and so are a lot of our fans. I'm not saying we hate TTTYG, but it just wouldn't be authentic if we stayed the same.

Are there any plans to release a demo/b-sides album?
There are none currently, but maybe at some point we'll release one. I think anyone who is really in to a band always wants to hear stuff like that. A couple months ago I released a demo on the internet called "7-9 Legendary". It was just like a garage band demo that was never going to make it on to an album. I was like "If I was a fan I'd want to hear demos and such" so I released it.

Trailers were released years ago for Release The Bats 2. Is it ever going to be released?
I don't know. We compiled all the footage and started to put it together and then we were like "This stuff is too old. Does it even make sense anymore? Does anyone care?" It's one of those things were we have all the footage and maybe it'll see the light of day at some point, or maybe not. It just feels like it's really outdated.

Is the Clandestine "Ice Cream Headache Lurker" shirt about the LiveJournal fan site?
Yeah, it is. All of the people who go there know what the shirt is about. It's nice to make something for a certain segment of people sometimes and that's what it is. It should be coming out in the next collection.

How do you handle Fall Out Boy being accused of "selling-out?"
It used to really get to me. The thing I've come to realize is every time we do something like product placements in a music video, people don't understand labels don't give you enough money for it. If it wasn't for product placements we'd have to pay out of our own pocket because music videos aren't really popular anymore, but we still want to make them. For example, we had only a quarter of the budget for "Arms Race" and "I Don't Care" that we had for "Sixteen Candles." It sucked. It's a fine line that you have to walk. To me, as long as we aren't doing something simply because it's lucrative, it's fine. We don't get a dime from product placements. For legal reasons I can't say much, but $50,000 was donated to "No on 8" because we believe the product placement was misused in our video for "I Don't Care."

You've said on Twitter that there's a connection between the past five Fall Out Boy music videos. Was that planned since the first video?
It's not a direct narrative, but there is a connection between all of them that I want to point out someday. It's not something where you can watch the videos back to back and they'll be seamless, but there is an underlining theme through all them.

Anything else you'd like to say?
Make sure you always, always, always wash your hands after you go to the bathroom.

The Wentz Way (interview)

The Wentz Way

Mar 16 01:07pm

Crazy-awesome Pete Wentz took time out from hanging with FOB to chat about kangaroos, Where’s Waldo and his lady love. Words: Alana Wulff.

Pete Wentz: Sorry if it’s loud, I’m at a restaurant.
TVH:
What restaurant are you at?

PW: Just a little one in Sydney.
TVH:
Do they serve squid or octopus tentacles?
No, but they have kangaroo pizza! Kangaroo doesn’t taste very good, especially red kangaroo. Red kangaroos are like cows where you are. [Laughs]

TVH: Let’s talk about your new album, I Don’t Care. What was the writing and recording process like?
PW:
It kind of all came together and we put it in a pot. Like hobo stew a little bit. Sometimes you end up with all this stuff!

TVH: How was it being back in the studio?
PW:
It felt good. I’m more of a live audience kind of person. I like being in venues with people, but I have a good time in the studio, too.

TVH: How is your latest album different to the last ones?
PW:
It’s a progression. It’s like our last record coming out of a coma and waking up and being like, “Oh my God, what are these things? A phone? What are they?” It’s like you’ve been in a coma for 20 years but you know what, everything tastes great! It’s like looking at a Smart car and thinking that it was as cool as a Hummer, but in reality, if you’d never been in that coma you would’ve never have thought that a Hummer and Smart car were as cool as each other.

TVH: Do you have a fave track on the album?
PW:
We don’t really have names for them right now. I want to call a song “Donnie’s Catch and Flack”, referring to Donnie Hathaway and Roberta Flack, but I’m not sure if that’s going to happen or not.

TVH: Do you have a fave song you like to perform live?
PW:
I like the last song on our new album. It’s like that last four minutes, you know you’re going to leave everything you have and that’s the main thing about it, so whatever song is last.

TVH: Is there a theme throughout the album?
PW:
There is, but we’d rather people put it together themselves. I never thought I’d be one of those bands that was like, “I don’t want to explain things,” but I don’t want to overexplain things. I’m going to give you the Where’s Waldo book, but I’m not going to tell you where Waldo is, you know?

TVH: Your first single is called “I Don’t Care”. It reminded me a bit of “Personal Jesus” from Marilyn Manson. Is that weird?
PW:
No, not in the slightest, because it kind of reminds me of “Tainted Love” from Marilyn Manson, only it’s more of a melodic version. I think some of that has to do with the fact that it’s a blues riff. I don’t think it sounds like the rest of our record to be honest, but I’m absolutely in love with the song. The theme is of the ‘me’ generation, like, “I don’t care about what you say, as long as it’s about me.” It’s not a nihilist thing, it’s a narcissist deal.

TVH: I saw you guys perform last time you were in Sydney!
PW:
Can I tell you my biggest problem with Australia? I absolutely love the people and the shows, but the airport though – anyone who wants to can go through security and do what they want, it’s very strange. It’s not like that anywhere else. That’s my only issue with you Australia! [Laughs]

TVH: What’s the biggest misconception about you or the band?
PW:
The biggest misconception about me is that I am the character that people see on the internet and at shows. It’s a personality, that’s not what I’m like at all. You need to hang out with me for 48 hours and you will see what I’m like. The biggest misconception about the band is probably that I get all the credit and I don’t deserve all the credit.

TVH: Do you find a lot of the attention you do get is more about your personal life than your professional life?
PW:
The thing is, you sign up for it, but you can’t decide who you fall in love with. You fall in love with who you fall in love with, right? But you know what comes along with it. I just think there’s a certain level of invasion that doesn’t make any sense at all. I don’t mind the cameras, they don’t bother me, but people need to respect personal space. I need to protect my family and I need to protect those around me that I love.
